Our practitioner will do a full assessment on each patient with a chronic or non-healing wound. Assessment includes evaluation of the underlying cause of the wound as well as any co-morbidities that might influence wound-healing. Patient compliance and the availability of a support system must also be taken into consideration. The practitioner and the patient then decide together on the best treatment plan with products specifically designed to treat complex wounds. Products include advanced dressing materials and devices used for negative pressure wound therapy.
Early detection is of utmost importance in the prognosis and outcome of all cancers. Cancer screening will be done by an experienced practitioner. Screening includes but is not limited to cervix cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer as well as testicular and ovarian cancers. Screening for cervix cancer is normally done by a pap smear while a special breast cancer detection light is used during all breast examinations to detect breast masses. Testicular, thyroid and ovarian cancers can be diagnosed by blood tests and ultrasound examinations. An exciting high technology addition is the Fotofinder Vexia with a dermascope that does mole analyzing and mapping. This can be used to diagnose a variety of skin cancers at a very early stage.
